PRESS: Russia’s Gazprom Neft offers Arctic partnership to CNOOC

MOSCOW, Sep 7 (PRIME) -- Russian oil company Gazprom Neft has offered partnership on two Arctic shelf deposits, Kheisovsky and Severo-Vrangelevsky, to China’s CNOOC, business daily Kommersant reported on Wednesday, citing a statement by CEO of parent company Gazprom Alexei Miller and available documents of the oil firm.

Miller said that Gazprom suggested that CNOOC participate in the development the shelf fields of Gazprom Neft, without elaborating. “As regards oil, we are considering this opportunity, such proposals have been made,” Miller said.

Gazprom Neft has been carrying out geological exploration on the Kheisovsky and Severo-Vrangelevsky deposits since August 2015, according to its reports, Kommersant reported.

The Kheisovsky’s prospective resources are estimated at 140 million tonnes of oil and 2 trillion cubic meters of gas, the resources of Severo-Vrangelevsky stand at 2 billion tonnes of oil and condensate and 1 trillion cubic meters of gas.
